Have you ever heard of a ‘death mask’? It is exactly what it sounds like, a mask depicting a copy of a person’s face right after they die. Death masks have been quite popular throughout history – famous figures like Napoleon, Dante, and even Abraham Lincoln have gotten their faces cast shortly before or after dying. However, one Chinese funeral company has put a modern twist on the ancient practice of creating a death mask, creating 3D-printed, photo-generated death masks. The only thing needed to create the mould is a photo of the deceased.
